"Beautiful Little Feet" - Romans 14b-15

"And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him? 15And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:14b-15)

Feet are not normally thought of as beautiful. Mostly, they are smelly and gross. But, little kids feet don't seem to be that bad; Or, at least my little kid's feet don't seem to be that bad. Sure, they are a bit smelly from time to time, but, they belong to my wonderful and amazing little dude (pictured above on the left next to his cousin's equally cute little feet on the right).

I must confess that I am one of those parents that always asks for a report from my son’s teachers. I want to know how this almost 3-year-old is doing during school (did he take his nap, did he eat well, did he treat the other kids well, etc.). Yesterday, his teacher actually volunteered an update without me asking.

She said that the class of ten 2 and 3-year-olds was getting a bit out of hand and not following directions. She pretended to be crying to hopefully get a desired reaction. Then, my son gently grabs her hand and says, “Don’t cry; let me pray for you.” He then proceeds to pray for her not to be sad, but to be happy, and remind her that Jesus loves her. And, he ends with, “We love you Jesus, Amen.”

So, I’m proud of my son for so many reasons. However, this completely blew me away. He not only showed love and compassion for someone, but he called upon God for help and healing. Yes, he is a preacher’s kid (P.K.), and yes, we do pray at home. But, I will not take complete credit here.

It was God that showed up! It was God that chose to use beautiful little feet to bring His good news of love, compassion, and hope! My son will turn 3 this weekend. In these 3 years, my son continues to amaze me and teach me about God. This event reminds me of the importance that ministry starts at home. The good news of Jesus Christ is so good, and it fills us with such overwhelming joy, that we cannot help but share it with everyone!

God has used my son’s beautiful little feet to bring news of great joy. God continues to speak hope into our lives…even through the littlest of voices by way of the littlest of feet. God, may you continue to amaze and inspire us in unexpected ways! “We love you Jesus, Amen!”
