San Antonio United Methodist Campus Ministry (SAUMCM) is an outreach of the Rio Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church to students and faculty of colleges and universities in the area of San Antonio, Texas.
The UMCM first began on the campus of San Antonio College in 1957. The United Methodist Student Center located at the corner of Dewey and Belknap directly across from SAC campus has provided spiritual guidance and renewal to students and faculty for nearly 60 years.
The UMCM now has on-campus registered student organizations at San Antonio College (SAC), Trinity University, and The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). In addition to regularly scheduled campus events, we offer off-campus activities and partner with surrounding local churches and non-profits.
Director: Rev. Johnny Silva
Johnny Silva began serving as Director of San Antonio United Methodist Campus Ministries in 2013. He enjoys long walks on the beach, movie quotes (especially Anchorman), sports, and connecting with students and faculty at San Antonio College (SAC), Trinity University, and University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) campuses. Johnny is an ordained minister in the Rio Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Johnny earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from UTSA. While in his last semester at UTSA, Johnny met his beautiful wife Laura at a UMSM fellowship event. A couple years later, both Johnny and Laura went on to Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University where they received their Master of Divinity. After graduating, they served as associate pastors at Corpus Christi First United Methodist Church for three years. Now, Laura received a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UTSA and serves as a Pastoral Counselor at Methodist Hospital, and Johnny serves as Campus Minister in the very United Methodist Campus Ministry where it all began.
When he’s not hanging out with college students at SAC, Trinity, or UTSA, you can find Johnny taking in some golf, disc golf, or living it up with his 5-year-old son "Action" Jackson, 1-year-old Knox, and wonderful wife Laura.

Program Coordinator: J. Alex Ruiz
J. Alex Ruiz came to work for the Wesley in 2012 by way of a friend and has been part of the organization ever since. He has enjoyed being part of planning and taking part in our Hot Potato informative discussions, mission trips, retreats, worship band and much more. As an avid musician he works to help lead music during worship and mission trips. A life long student of archaeology and anthropology Alex has continued to pursue this line of study and now makes historical items as a professional blacksmith and bladesmith. He was featured on the History Channel Show "Forged in Fire" and brought home a win.
